Girls - The Peter Rivett-Carnac Remixes

Cheesy pop retouched by one third of Sydney's Single Gun Theory up on Empty Archive.

Vincent Stone, a pop singer lost to the ether of mediocre CD albums, put out this 12-inch featuring Girls from his 1994 self-titled album remixed by Peter Rivett-Carnac.

Rivett-Carnac was part of pioneering Sydney post-punk electronic group Single Gun Theory, who recently featured on Efficient Space's Volition Cuts reissue and had varying mainstream success throughout the 1990s in Australia.

Here he gives Girls two remixes that slot beautifully in with similar releases from the time on labels like Volition and Dancenet.

Girls (Trouble In Alexandria Mix) is a downtempo, breakbeat excursion evoking images of UK chillout tents and resembling a modern Melbourne chugger.

The Love Is Kind Mix is a industrial-soaked raver, with euphoric stabs echoing over a bassline that makes you wonder if it ever got a run at a harbour beach in the early ours of the morning.

Another great lost Australian gem I found while buying for my Vitamine FM feature, hoping to have it air soon!
