Sexing the Cherry - Glamorous (Glamadub)

Australian rave rough diamond coming from the legendary Robert Racic on the remix.

Hard to not be across the purple of Volition records who pressed a bunch of leftfield dance music in Australia, most notably Kiwis Sister Underground's record In The Neighbourhood

A Melbourne legend, Racic was a sought after remixer in the 90s, particularly known for his work with Severed Heads. He also produced the soughtafter Underground Mix on that Sisters Underground record.

Here he turns what is a cheesy imitation europop track into a tasteful and possibly lethal sunrise weapon.

Use with a smile.

Twice the Desire

Double upload this week with some off kilter LA hip-hop and Hi NRG on the flip.

Picked a copy of this up on a recent trip to Japan for a fraction of the price of any online copies.

Desire looks to be a fluid combination of a few Los Angeles freestyle luminaries. Pictured on the front are Sebastian "Sabby" Rayas, who produces both tracks and raps on the A-side and Nicole May who's vocals feature on both cuts.

JD Hall is also credited for the b-side, which looks to be a cover or alternate version of his own release of #1 Lover from 8 years prior to this release.

Que Feo is amateurish and a lot of fun, even if it's a fair bit hornier than anything I would usually buy. It's so catchy I find myself singing vulgar lyrics while I roll around public spaces.

Look forward to one day cracking up a dancefloor with tales of Ramona who gives out big boners.

Plus Desire's version of #1 Lover with May's hauntingly off key vocals and relentless percussion also features this week. Yet to try it out on the floor but feel like I can hear people screaming already.

Neil 'Hawaiin' House & 'Spinnin' Wheel' Bill - Move Yo Butt (Spinnin's Deep Mix)

Some underappreciated Chicago hip-house this week, the first upload from a bunch of records I picked up on a recent trip to Japan.

Neil "Hawaiin" House & "Spinnin' Wheel" Bill produced a couple of records of note, particularly both helping produce the now infamous, expensive and recently reissued The Pump Girls single Get On It.

They also teamed up for another release on Saber Records, which is reportedly somewhere between an affiliated and sublabel of Trax Records.

This Spinnin Deep Mix is one of my favourite hip-house tracks ever. Tasteful stabs, energetic percussion, lyrics that stay groovy rather than cringy and even some ragga elements. Is there even a steel drum in there?

Suprised this one didn't get the recognition that Doug Lazy's Let It Roll or Sisters Underground's In The Neighbourhood, but I'm hoping this upload can hopefully lead to this one getting some of the credit it deserves.

Keep an eye out for some more pickups from Japan in the coming weeks.

BPM Replay

Hey!

You can catch up on my cover for BPM on PBS 106.7FM from Saturday night.

I played a bunch of stuff I picked up on a recent few weeks in Japan!

Think lots of Underground Resistance, Kerri Chandler and some unheard stuff coming up on the channel!
